National Minority Business Council Opens the NASDAQ Stock Market
New York- NY – The NASDAQ Stock Market proudly welcomed the National Minority Business Council, Inc. (NMBC) to the Market Opening in honor of its 24th Annual Awards Luncheon held previously at the Sheraton New York Hotel and Towers. The luncheon honored minority and women entrepreneurs and corporate leaders who have distinguished themselves in their respective industries.
John F. Robinson, President and Chief Executive Officer, William H. Burgess III, Chairman and Alan J. Rude, Vice President of NMBC presided over the Market Opening. Also in attendance: Gregory. L Reid, Esq., Secretary, and William H. Drewes, Esq., General Counsel for NMBC, Pamela A. Robinson, Business Development Specialist for the Minority Business Development Agency-U.S. Department of Commerce. Janet Lewis, Vice President of Business Development for the NASDAQ presided over the ceremonies.
At the podium, Mr. Robinson remarked on NMBC’s inaugural IPO Service for minority and women owned business enterprises (MWBEs) which will help qualified companies utilize the resources of the NASDAQ to raise capital from the public market. Mr. Burgess added that “the NMBC’s 24th Annual Awards Luncheon highlighted our NASDAQ initiative of providing capital market access to our membership and other MWBEs, which was a major achievement, as well as our other awardees, Siemen’s Corporation and Morgan Stanley. This initiative will benefit our organization’s minority and women businesses growth nationally.” NMBC is looking forward to developing a working relationship with the NASDAQ on this new IPO service. The Program was launched on April 1, 2004.
